How to build a complete body care routine: scrub, oil, and mist

Most people's body care routine consists of one step: soap, rinse, done. That's enough for cleanliness, but it leaves skin doing all the work of staying soft, smooth, and comfortable on its own — which, especially in a hot, dry climate, it usually can't.

A complete body care routine takes five extra minutes and uses three products, each doing a specific job. Here's how to build one properly.

Step 1: Exfoliate with a body scrub

Before any moisturising product can work effectively, dead skin needs to come off. A sea salt body scrub uses mineral salt to physically buff away dead skin cells, revealing smoother skin underneath and creating a better surface for the next steps to absorb into.

Use it on damp skin in the shower, 2–3 times a week. Apply with your hands in circular motions, focusing on rough areas like elbows, knees, and heels. Rinse thoroughly, then pat — don't rub — dry.

Step 2: Hydrate with a body oil

Immediately after scrubbing and while skin is still slightly damp, apply a body oil. This is the most important timing detail in the entire routine — damp skin absorbs oil far more effectively than dry skin, locking in both the oil and the water already on your skin.

A lightweight formula built around olive oil and sweet almond oil absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue, so you can get dressed within minutes rather than waiting for the oil to fully sink in.

Step 3: Finish with a body mist

Once the oil has absorbed, a light body mist finishes the routine with a clean scent that doesn't compete with the oil underneath. Because it's lighter than perfume, it can be reapplied throughout the day without becoming overwhelming.

Using a body mist in the same fragrance family as your oil and shower products — like Sage & Citrus across the whole range — means every layer builds on the last instead of mixing scents that don't belong together.

Why the order matters

Each step in this routine depends on the one before it. Scrubbing first means the oil has a smoother surface to absorb into. Applying oil to damp skin means it absorbs faster and more completely. Finishing with mist means the scent sits on top as the lightest, most temporary layer rather than getting trapped under heavier products.

Skip a step, or do them out of order, and the routine doesn't fail completely — but it won't deliver the same result. The difference between scrubbing dry skin versus damp skin, or applying oil before versus after a shower, is the difference between a routine that works and one that just adds extra steps.

How often to do the full routine

The body oil and mist can be used daily. The scrub is most effective at 2–3 times a week — daily exfoliation can over-strip the skin, while less than once a week won't keep up with normal skin cell turnover.
