How to build a natural shower routine with olive oil
Most shower routines are built by habit rather than intention. You use whatever is in the shower, you rinse off, you move on. But if you have ever stepped out of the shower with skin that feels dry, tight, or hair that needs heavy styling to look decent, it is worth thinking about what your routine is actually doing — and what it could do better.
Here is how to build a natural shower routine around olive oil, from shampoo to body wash to post-shower moisturising.
Step 1: Shampoo with a conditioning formula
The shampoo is where most people's hair problems start. Many standard shampoos use high concentrations of surfactants that strip the scalp and hair of natural oils, leaving it dry between washes and dependent on heavy conditioners to compensate.
A better approach is a shampoo that cleans effectively while also conditioning. The Olive & Foam Shampoo includes Olea Europaea Fruit Oil (Palestinian olive oil) and Polyquaternium-7, a conditioning polymer that deposits on the hair during washing and stays after rinsing — leaving hair smoother and more manageable without needing to overload it with conditioner.
Apply to wet hair, massage from scalp to ends, and rinse thoroughly.
Step 2: Condition from mid-lengths to ends
Conditioner is not for the scalp — it is for the lengths and ends of your hair, where moisture is lost first. The Olive & Foam Conditioner uses Glycerin, Cetostearyl Alcohol, and Cetyl Alcohol alongside olive oil to coat and smooth each strand. Leave it on for 2–3 minutes while you wash the rest of your body, then rinse.
Together, the shampoo and conditioner are available as part of the Shower Set.
Step 3: Cleanse your body without stripping the skin
The same principle applies to your body: you want something that cleans effectively but leaves the skin in good condition afterwards. The Olive & Foam Body Wash uses the same olive oil base as the hand wash, with Cocamidopropyl Betaine providing a gentle, conditioning cleanse that does not leave skin feeling dry after rinsing.
Apply with your hands or a loofah, lather across the body, and rinse thoroughly.
Step 4: Moisturise immediately after drying
This is the step most people skip, and it makes the biggest difference. Skin absorbs moisture most effectively when it is still slightly damp — right after drying off is the ideal window to apply a moisturiser.
The Olive & Foam Hand & Body Milk is formulated specifically for this: a lightweight lotion with Shea Butter, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Glycerin, and olive oil that absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy film. Apply to arms, legs, and any areas prone to dryness while your skin is still warm from the shower.
The result
A routine built around olive oil — from shampoo through to post-shower moisturiser — is one that works with your skin rather than against it. Each step builds on the last, and the cumulative effect is hair that needs less styling and skin that stays comfortable and hydrated throughout the day.
All four products are available individually or together. The Shower Set covers the hair and body wash steps; the Hand Set covers the hand wash and moisturiser. Both are sourced with Palestinian olive oil and support the farmers who grow it.
